My way to help my knees in the travel:

First, you have like 3 finger wide part of the tape that you use in the beginning and the end to make a start and end. Only the between parts, you stretch. 

So first I used quite a long tape on both sides. I stretched max 30%.

Then I placed two tapes very close to the knee area.
The other two tapes came to the end to fix them, so they would not roll down.

This was so much help that I felt minimum 1,5 times stronger!
