Personal experience:
For some years, I used to have super painful menstruation, pain that I wanted to scream for all days.... pain in my lower abs, and my back as well. For several days... 
When I started to use the kinesiology tape on my lower abs, it helped me breathe, as the pain went away.

I used a different way on my stomach. I will show it by a paint picture.
I used two layers of the tape. First and second steps.
First tape was cut into 3 parts, so like fingers on both sides, the tape was holding the lower abs, then an extra tap was added.
